8 Things I Would Want If I Were The Last Woman on Earth…

After watching the first episode of The Last Man on Earth on Sunday, I started to think about which TV memorabilia I would drive around the country to collect if I were the last woman on earth. Once I started thinking of things, I had way more than eight, so these are my top choices. Which items would you want?

1. Tim Riggins’ Truck from Friday Night Lights
After all, I will need something to drive around the country and I could attach a trailer to it to transport all my things.

2. Gilligan’s and The Skipper’s Hats from Gilligan’s Island
Headwear is important and it is always good to have options. I would probably pick up Raylan Givens’ hat as well.

3. Dr. Greene’s Scrubs from ER
If I am the only person left, then my appearance does not really matter, so why not be comfortable?

4. JJ Pryor’s Letterman Jacket from American Dreams
Even though I plan to live in a tropical climate, I would need something to keep me warm just in case it gets cold at night.

8 Servicemen…

Tuesday was Veteran’s Day, the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended World War I, and a day where we remember and thank those who have served in the military. This is my list of my favorite TV servicemen.

1. Benjamin Franklin ‘Hawkeye’ Pierce – M*A*S*H, played by Alan Alda. Hawkeye is a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Korean War and served at the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital.

2. The Hill Brothers – Enlisted, played by Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell and Parker Young. Pete is a Staff Sergeant at Fort McGee in Florida where his brothers, Corporal Derrick Hill and Private First Class Randy Hill, are stationed. If you could not tell already, I am *still* not over the cancellation of this show.

3. The A-Team, played by George Peppard, Dirk Benedict, Mr. T and Dwight Schultz. This team included Lieutenant Colonel John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, Lieutenant Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck, Sergeant First Class Bosco Albert ‘B.A.’ Baracus and Captain H.M. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock. After being court-martialed for a crime they did not commit, they became mercenaries and helped people in need.

4. Tim Gutterson – Justified, played by Jacob Pitts. Before becoming a Deputy U.S. Marshall in Lexington, Kentucky, Tim was a U.S. Army Ranger trained sniper who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The sound quality on this video is not great, but I love Tim’s line.

8 References to the Birthplace of Freedom…

Tomorrow is Independence Day and, since the Declaration of Independence was signed in my home city of Philadelphia, this week I have decided to give you a list of my favorite Philly references.

1. 30 Rock Tina Fey grew up in Upper Darby, which is a suburb of Philadelphia, so there are several scenes I could have chosen. Aside from the below clip, there is also an episode featuring the Phillie Phanatic and an episode where, after being asked to do Jack a favor Liz says, “If I’m doing this for you, guess what buddy? I get your Yankees tickets on ARod bobblehead day! And I’m gonna throw that thing in front of a train. Go Phillies!” which just makes me laugh every time!

2. Bones David Boreanaz is also from Philadelphia and he represents his Philly pride well with Seeley Booth. There are lots of Flyers references throughout the show, but my favorite episode is the one where Booth finds seats on the side of the road from the old Veterans Stadium. He tries to take them home, only to have the power go out and he and Brennan get stuck in an elevator.

3. American Dreams This show was set in Philadelphia on the set of American Bandstand in the mid-sixties when it was at the height of its popularity. The Pryor family are big Eagles and Phillies fans, JJ Pryor attends Lehigh University and their Uncle Pete works for the Philadelphia Police Department. The show even deals with riots that took place in Philly during the summer of 1964 and the Northeast blackout in 1965.

4. Boy Meets World Creator Michael Jacobs is actually from New Jersey, but we will let that slide since the Matthews family lives in Philly and are big Phillies fans. Cory even dressed as his favorite player one Halloween.
