Quotes of the Week: June 7-17

Since the ATX Television Festival, my schedule has been little wonky. So, here are my favorite quotes from the past two and a half weeks, mostly from shows currently on the air, but also other random things I happen to be watching.

Orphan Black
Alison: Poop on a stoop!

I’m Dying Up Here
Edgar: That is not how a bladder functions.
Gabe: Shut up, Edgar. I’m Jewish, you’re Mexican, which automatically makes me closer to being a doctor than you.

Downward Dog
Martin: I think, so often I forget the really, really obvious things in life. Because I don’t think it’s all that hard to be happy. I…I think you just have to be grateful. Like, you have to remember to be grateful for what’s right in front of you. Because me and Nan are really, really different. Like…like, we’re, like, 60% compatible at best. And, like, we have these huge issues we have to work out. But, like, when you’re always running around looking for what’s wrong with everything you just – you just end up miserable. Yeah, like, I’m a trash dog and she’s, like, a fancy lady, but we have each other, and that’s what’s important. We’re not alone. And for that…for that I’m honestly, really, truly grateful.

Martin: One thing I’ve always wanted to ask is just, like, what if we never got out of bed? Like, ever. Why are we so convinced it would be bad? Like, that might – that might solve everything. Or we could not try my suggestion, and we could just, like, keep getting out of bed every day expecting somehow to achieve a different result, even though that’s the actual dictionary definition of insanity. I mean, I don’t know. Maybe it’s worth a try.

iZombie
Liv: He escaped.
Justin: How’d that happen?
Liv: Said the guy who showed up late.

Fargo
Emmit: A lie is not a lie if you believe it’s true.

Doctor Who
Bill: You’re not cowards. You’re scared. Scared is fine. Scared is human.

Doctor: That’s the trouble with hope. It’s hard to resist.

Turn: Washington’s Spies
Judge Woodhull: When the consequence of the day rears its head, then we’ll know what we learned.

Orphan Black
Rachel: You can be part of this change, or you can be part of the past.

Kira: I want to know why I’m like this!

Quotes of the Week: April 23-29

These are my favorite quotes from the past week, mostly from shows currently on the air, but also other random things I happen to be watching.

The Leftovers
Nora: If we can’t have a sense of humor about you being the Messiah, we’re gonna have a problem.

Supergirl

Jane the Virgin

iZombie
Liv: I believe God is a woman so, you’re really screwed.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Daisy: For what it’s worth, I didn’t…I didn’t totally understand him until I met you. So, I guess…I guess there was some good in him all along.

Coulson: Hydra doesn’t think we’re smart enough to know when we’re being fed alternative facts to keep us afraid. To keep them in power. Remember, there are more of us than there are of them and, now that we know the truth, we have a choice to make. We all have the opportunity to be patriots. Will you take a stand? Are you going to hold them accountable?…A wise man once told me that a person can do anything once they realize they’re apart of something bigger. It’s taken me a while to understand that. For years, I was just a face in the crowd. A history teacher who spread Hydra’s lies. They seemed too imposing for any one person to fight. But now, I’m choosing to stand up. To become a part of something bigger. I really do believe that together we can accomplish anything. Because, the truth is, I’m not just a history teacher. My name is Phil Coulson, and I’m an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

8 Characters to the Rescue…

Author Brenda Hiatt, posted this question on Facebook: “You’ve been kidnapped. You can call on the characters from one television show to make a rescue attempt. Which show do you pick?” My pick would be Strike Back. Then I started thinking about which individual characters from different shows I would want to come save me. So, here is that list.

1. Veronica Mars – Veronica Mars
She is a private detective that no one ever suspects is actually a private detective. She always has her taser with her and she will not stop until she has the problem figured out. She will even work with people she does not like in order to get the answers she is looking for.

2. Sgt. Michael Stonebridge – Strike Back
It was hard to choose between Strike Back’s Michael and Damien but, ultimately, I think Michael is the more level-headed one…plus, he has a sexy British accent. He is also a Royal Marine who works for an elite special operations unit and always has that sharp military focus.

3. The Doctor – Doctor Who
If you are kidnapped by aliens, you would definitely want his help. How else is the team going to get to the ship or planet where you are being held? I also always thought Veronica would make a good companion for him.

4. Brian Finch – Limitless
On NZT, he is basically the smartest person on the planet. He will be able to see clues that other people miss. He might clash with the Doctor a bit, but I think that they would ultimately be interested in working with each other.

Quotes of the Week: October 11-17

These are my favorite quotes from the past week, not just from shows currently on the air, but also other random things I happen to be watching.

Once Upon a Time
David: I don’t want to only be remembered as the man who kissed a sleeping princess awake thirty years ago.

Gotham
Gordon: Strike Force?
Barnes: Got a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

Jane the Virgin
Jane: Go! Run!
Narrator: And, so, Rafael ran. And then, even though she shouldn’t have been physically able to, Jane ran too. Well, we’ll call it running, that thing she’s doing.

Narrator: Observe Rafael trying to pretend he knows what ‘nipple confusion’ is.

Rogelio: In the last twenty-four hours, I have ruined multiple celebrity friendships by tweeting their dirty secrets in an effort to distract the press. It has not worked!

Minority Report
Dash: I wish I could tell you I couldn’t remember everything that happened. But I do. So, whenever it’s quiet or dark or…anytime, really…I am back there…seeing it.
Fredi: Seeing what?
Dash: More than any kid should ever have to. It was too much for too long to forget.
Fredi: And you want to forget.
Dash: No, I don’t. I don’t want to forget it. And that way, it won’t be a waste of my life.

Castle
Alexis: The blind priest just ran away.

The Flash
Jay: This is a lot harder than I thought. Losing something that was such a big part of who I was for so long.
Caitlin: I lost something that was a part of me too. It’s hard, but it gets easier every day. You just have to find a new way to live. Just because it’s a different life, doesn’t mean it’s a worse one.

8 of My Favorite Returning Summer Shows…

Two weeks ago, I told you which new summer shows I was planning to watch, so I will now give you the list of returning shows that I enjoy the most.

1. Orange Is The New Black, season 2 will be released June 6th on Netflix. In my opinion, this is the best of Netflix’s original shows. Every one in the main cast is great, but it is the phenomenal supporting cast that really makes up the heart and soul of this show. They are each amazing and essential to the story and I am excited to delve deeper into their individual stories.

2. Suits, season 4 premieres June 11th on USA. The writing on this show is so fun and smart and I can never predict where they are going to take us next. In the season three finale, Mike left Pearson Specter to work for an investment company, so it will be interesting to see how they keep him connected to his former firm and to his mentor.

3. Graceland, season 2 also premieres June 11th on USA. This show started off a little slow for me but definitely picked up steam at the end of the first season, which will hopefully carry into this new season. It has a lot of potential to be great and it offers up some twists and turns that definitely keep things interesting.

4. Rookie Blue, season 5 premieres June 19th on ABC. I have been watching this show since the first season and I just cannot stop. I really enjoy the cast and even some of the ridiculous storylines. Will Andy choose Nick or Sam? I HAVE TO KNOW! Also, now every time I see Eric Johnson I cannot help but think, “Chad, shut your stupid mouth and feed the kids.” FYI: The below video preview is from the Canadian channel that airs the show, so the date is incorrect.
