NCIS

Quotes of the Week: May 15-21

These are my favorite quotes from the past week, mostly from shows currently on the air, but also other random things I happen to be watching.

Game of Thrones
Grey Worm: You will not use them. They will use you. That is what they do.

Daenerys: You are small men. None of you are fit to lead the Dothraki. But I am. So I will.

Veep
President Meyer: You’re gonna cancel this recount like Anne Frank’s bat mitzvah!

Jane the Virgin
Rogelio: Why do you have a sex basket from my mortal enemy?
Xiomara: That’s not a sex basket.
Rogelio: I know a sex basket when I see one!!

Rogelio: Jane, please stop running! Your makeup will melt! Let me carry you!
Jane: No way. Then you’re makeup will melt!
Rogelio: You’re right! We’ll reapply when we get there!

12 Monkeys
Dr. Jones: This is what happens when you play God and you don’t know your lines.

Cassie: You are a pain in the ass in *every* time period.

Jennifer: Maybe every version of me thinks you’re kind of a bitch.

The Flash
Joe: The is where I play stupid and you explain science.

Barry: We’re supposed to think we’re something we’re not until we become that thing.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Coulson: You think vengeance is the missing piece of the puzzle, that it will make you whole again but all it does is break you further.

Lincoln: Saving the girl I love and the world at the same time? Feels pretty right to me.

8 Characters to the Rescue…

Author Brenda Hiatt, posted this question on Facebook: “You’ve been kidnapped. You can call on the characters from one television show to make a rescue attempt. Which show do you pick?” My pick would be Strike Back. Then I started thinking about which individual characters from different shows I would want to come save me. So, here is that list.

1. Veronica Mars – Veronica Mars
She is a private detective that no one ever suspects is actually a private detective. She always has her taser with her and she will not stop until she has the problem figured out. She will even work with people she does not like in order to get the answers she is looking for.

2. Sgt. Michael Stonebridge – Strike Back
It was hard to choose between Strike Back’s Michael and Damien but, ultimately, I think Michael is the more level-headed one…plus, he has a sexy British accent. He is also a Royal Marine who works for an elite special operations unit and always has that sharp military focus.

3. The Doctor – Doctor Who
If you are kidnapped by aliens, you would definitely want his help. How else is the team going to get to the ship or planet where you are being held? I also always thought Veronica would make a good companion for him.

4. Brian Finch – Limitless
On NZT, he is basically the smartest person on the planet. He will be able to see clues that other people miss. He might clash with the Doctor a bit, but I think that they would ultimately be interested in working with each other.

8 Servicewomen…

Since I gave you my list of favorite TV Servicemen for Veterans Day, I now present my favorite TV Servicewomen in honor of Independence Day.

1. Jill Perez – Enlisted, played by Angelique Cabral.
Perez is a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army assigned to a Rear Detachment Unit stationed at Fort McGee in Florida. She wants to be an Army Ranger and she smells like America.

2. Julia Richmond – Strike Back, played by Michelle Lukes.
Sergeant Richmond is the chief communication officer and field operative for Section 20, an elite covert British military intelligence and counter-terrorism unit originally formed within the Secret Intelligence Service.

3. Hollis Mann – NCIS, played by Susanna Thompson.
Before joining the Department of Defense, Hollis was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and part of the Criminal Investigation Division.

4. Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan – M.A.S.H., played by Loretta Swit.
Major Houlihan was a member of the United States Army Nurse Corps and in charge of all the nurses at the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M.A.S.H.) during the Korean War.

8 Sensates…

The newest Netflix show Sense8 is about eight uniquely different people from all around the world that start seeing and hearing things that they have not experienced themselves. They each have specific talents and often help each other out of their individual predicaments by being able to share senses within their group. It sounds super complicated, but is actually a really great show that you should be watching.

Inspired by this show, I decided to make a list of TV characters that would make a good group of Sensates. I admit that I am totally stealing this idea from Todd VanDerWerff and it was not as easy as I thought it would be. Trying to come up with a list of people that all have different skills which compliment each other was incredibly difficult. I also decided to leave out anyone who came by their gifts supernaturally, because that just opened an entirely different can of worms.

1. Cosima Niehaus – Orphan Black
She has Ph.D. in Experimental Evolutionary Developmental Biology, which basically means she likes to make crazy science, but she will also keep everyone mellow.

2. Mike Ross – Suits
He may not be a real lawyer, but he can pull it off because he has a photographic memory.

3. Melinda May a.k.a. “The Cavalry” – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
She is smart, resourceful, knows how to fly a plane and will kick your ass if you mess with her.

4. Rickie Vasquez – My So-Called Life
He is brave, compassionate and protective of his friends, but also has a flare for the dramatic.

8 Servicemen…

Tuesday was Veteran’s Day, the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended World War I, and a day where we remember and thank those who have served in the military. This is my list of my favorite TV servicemen.

1. Benjamin Franklin ‘Hawkeye’ Pierce – M*A*S*H, played by Alan Alda. Hawkeye is a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Korean War and served at the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital.

2. The Hill Brothers – Enlisted, played by Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell and Parker Young. Pete is a Staff Sergeant at Fort McGee in Florida where his brothers, Corporal Derrick Hill and Private First Class Randy Hill, are stationed. If you could not tell already, I am *still* not over the cancellation of this show.

3. The A-Team, played by George Peppard, Dirk Benedict, Mr. T and Dwight Schultz. This team included Lieutenant Colonel John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, Lieutenant Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck, Sergeant First Class Bosco Albert ‘B.A.’ Baracus and Captain H.M. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock. After being court-martialed for a crime they did not commit, they became mercenaries and helped people in need.

4. Tim Gutterson – Justified, played by Jacob Pitts. Before becoming a Deputy U.S. Marshall in Lexington, Kentucky, Tim was a U.S. Army Ranger trained sniper who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The sound quality on this video is not great, but I love Tim’s line.

8 Shows I Watch With My Mom…

My mother and I do not tend to watch a lot of the same shows, so it is nice when we find one that we can enjoy together. Sometimes she finds it first and introduces it to me and sometimes it happens the other way around. In honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, these are the ones we have in common.

1. NCIS – My mom started watching this first and I did not think that I would like it because I tend to avoid procedural shows. She would watch the re-runs on USA and eventually I got into it as well. We prefer the earlier episodes and, while she still watches, I actually gave up in the middle of last season.

2. Gilmore Girls – I found this show in college and when I moved home after I graduated (don’t judge!), I would watch it on ABC Family and she would often watch with me. I am not sure my mom has seen every episode, but she still refers to Lauren Graham as Lorelei.

3. Downton Abbey – This is another one that my mom actually started watching first. She watches a lot of random British shows, so I figured it was another one like As Time Goes By or Rosemary & Thyme and did not initially watch the first season. However, it started to get a lot of good buzz from TV journalists that I trust, so I finally gave it a chance. We love Maggie Smith and her awesome one-liners.

4. Elementary – I started watching this because I like Jonny Lee Miller and then recommended it to my mom. She says that it is on too late for her to stay up and watch it (being on the East Coast) and usually watches OnDemand, so she is often an episode or two behind me, but we enjoy the relationship between Sherlock and Joan.
