8 Returning Mid-Season Shows…

Last week, I shared my list of new shows that I am most excited about, so here are the returning shows that I cannot wait to have back on my television in the next few months.

1. Shameless season five premieres January 11 on Showtime, stars William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Allen White, Cameron Monaghan, Emma Kenney, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Joan Cusack, Noel Fisher and Emily Bergl. Somehow, this is still one of the most under-rated shows on TV. What are you all waiting for?! I love the Gallaghers so much. They make me laugh and they make me cry and I cannot wait to see what craziness they get up to now that it is summer in Chicago! Frank has a new liver, so anything is possible.

2. Justified the final season premieres January 20 on FX, stars Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins, Joelle Carter, Nick Searcy, Jacob Pitts, Erica Tazel and Jere Burns. I am very sad to be losing another one of my favorite shows, but I will say the same thing that I said about Sons of Anarchy in September: I do not want it to be over, but I also cannot wait to see what happens! Will Ava help the Marshals with their RICO case? Will Tim continue to be awesome? Will Raylan and Boyd finally take each other out? I am already on the edge of my seat filled with anticipation.

3. The Americans season three premieres January 28 on FX, stars Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Noah Emmerich, Annet Mahendru, Susan Misner, Alison Wright, Richard Thomas, Holly Taylor and Keidrich Sellati. This is another under-rated show that more people need to be watching. It is not a show that I necessarily need to keep up with every single week, but when I finally sit down and watch it, I am always impressed with the story-telling and the performances.

4. Suits the second half of season four premieres January 28 on USA, stars Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres. The beginning of this season spent a little much time with Mike working against Harvey as a investment banker, but now he is finally back at the law firm and Louis has discovered his secret. I am pretty sure that Pearson Specter is about the get “Litt the Hell Up.”

8 Opening Credits That I Always Watch…

These days, a lot of shows do not really have a full opening theme, they just have a name card, but I really enjoy credits when they are done correctly. Most of my choices are due mainly to the music used for each show and sometimes it is hard to pinpoint exactly what about each one I enjoy, but they all make me really happy when I watch them…and I always watch these.

1. Grey’s Anatomy I am obviously referring to the original credits, as now they just flash the name of the show with random hospital sounds in the background. I just thought that they were creative and fit the mood of the show. I am not sure why they stopped using them, but I still miss them.

2. Jack & Bobby The music is from the movie The Patriot and was composed by the amazing John Williams. I love the combination of this soundtrack with clips of former U.S. Presidents speaking.

3. Deadwood This one is actually the ringtone on my phone. I love the music and the images used. It is beautiful, sexy and captivating.

4. Suits I am not really sure what it is about this one that I enjoy so much. I just think the music and the lyrics in the song really fit with the show. Love that Greenback Boogie!

8 of My Favorite Returning Summer Shows…

Two weeks ago, I told you which new summer shows I was planning to watch, so I will now give you the list of returning shows that I enjoy the most.

1. Orange Is The New Black, season 2 will be released June 6th on Netflix. In my opinion, this is the best of Netflix’s original shows. Every one in the main cast is great, but it is the phenomenal supporting cast that really makes up the heart and soul of this show. They are each amazing and essential to the story and I am excited to delve deeper into their individual stories.

2. Suits, season 4 premieres June 11th on USA. The writing on this show is so fun and smart and I can never predict where they are going to take us next. In the season three finale, Mike left Pearson Specter to work for an investment company, so it will be interesting to see how they keep him connected to his former firm and to his mentor.

3. Graceland, season 2 also premieres June 11th on USA. This show started off a little slow for me but definitely picked up steam at the end of the first season, which will hopefully carry into this new season. It has a lot of potential to be great and it offers up some twists and turns that definitely keep things interesting.

4. Rookie Blue, season 5 premieres June 19th on ABC. I have been watching this show since the first season and I just cannot stop. I really enjoy the cast and even some of the ridiculous storylines. Will Andy choose Nick or Sam? I HAVE TO KNOW! Also, now every time I see Eric Johnson I cannot help but think, “Chad, shut your stupid mouth and feed the kids.” FYI: The below video preview is from the Canadian channel that airs the show, so the date is incorrect.

8 of My Favorite TV Assistants…

Last Wednesday, April 23rd, was Administrative Professionals Day. In the spirit of recognizing all the hardworking office support staffs out there (myself included), I made a list of my favorite TV assistants.

1. White House Staffers Donna Moss, Margaret Hooper and Dolores Landingham – The West Wing played by Janel Moloney, NiCole Robinson and Kathryn Joosten, I could not decide which was the best of the three so I included them all. They each had their own quirks and strengths, but were always loyal and always did their jobs well. I could have posted many great clips of each of them, but I think this is my favorite:

2. Donna Paulsen – Suits played by Sarah Rafferty, she is perceptive and witty and always knows what is going on with everyone at Pearson Specter. She has been with Harvey since he was at the D.A.’s office and pretty much runs his life. She also always has the best lines.

3. Karen Walker – Will & Grace played by Megan Mullally, she did not need to work because her husband was a millionaire and she never really did anything, but she used her job to get away from her family and she had lots of social connections for Grace. She also enjoyed pointing out all of Grace’s flaws.

4. Elaine Vassal – Ally McBeal played by Jane Krakowski, she was overtly sexual and the inventor of the face bra, among other things, and while her relationship with Ally was initially combative, they eventually became friends.
